Negotiated Projects: House of Meetings: B+

"The overall visual identity you have created is appropriate and effective. Your use of textures, typography and video engage the audience and the diversity of approaches holds your attention well. The work clearly demonstrates a good understanding of the book and care has been taken to establish understanding in your audience from the title to your 'conclusion'. The sequence would make an excellent title series for a film or tv adaptation, and this may be a future area of interest for you.

The pacing is a little 'flat' in places and there are some areas that may have benefited from further tweaking but overall this was well conceived, thorough and full of very good critical judgment and aesthetic ability."

"Practical Work - B+

A very interesting sketchbook of visual ideas, collected materials and notes was submitted, together with a CD of Flash tests. The submission represents a very good start for the practical project and good understanding/engagement with the intentions of the module.

Proposal - B

The report outlines a great idea, which is well verbalised, full of potential and that will take advantage of your identified strengths. The project has been well considered, the bibliography is good and overall the submission establishes a strong starting point for your final Major Project"

I have created my first website, and it's online! And it was even harder than it should actually be because I was stepping into the job of a professional web designer and having to get all the details and bits and bobs from him and try and swap his old site for my new one.

There's still a lot to do but the main thing, I think I've mastered....hopefully.

Let the victory dancing commence! Hooray!

With covering letters and CVs. I'm trying to apply for a few things, and get some letters sent out now so I can (hopefully) be slightly ahead of the game.

But I'm applying to film companies and I have no work experience whatsoever. I'm trying to make the most of the jobs that I've worked and hopefully it will show that I'm responsible, competent and hard-working, etc, but should I just come clean and say:

I have no experience but I believe you should give me this job because I know I can do it, and it's all I've ever wanted to do. I'll work hard and I'll learn fast if you just give me the chance.

What do you lot think?

I am currently in the last slog before I graduate, after three years studying Illustration for Animation at a British University that I won't refer to by name, as I forsee much bitching about it in the future. However, if you're that desperate to identify it, it won't take that much sleuthing to find a somewhere online where I have mentioned it.

This is a blog for art and updates on my progress, to motivate me, and if anyone's interested, to see what life is like for a 22 year old art student.

It's entirely likely that this will be just for me, but since I left my nice diary at home and have almost forgotten how to write by hand (A biro, you say? Which end is which again?) this is as close as I'm going to get to a record of my last.....three and a bit months in higher education. And I'm sure it will be lovely to look back on in years to come and think, hah, call those problems?! Worries?! Ah, to be back in that simpler age, when this was the extent of my 'stress'!

Or something.
